GENERAL MANAGERS MESSAGE

Dear Residents,

The month of October is a very special time of great religious significance when many of our friends will be celebrating the important feast of Hari Raya Idul Fitri, marking the end of the fasting month. This year, Idul Fitri is expected to fall on October 13th, a national holiday. Hari Raya literally means a Great Day of Celebration and on this joyous occasion, we would like to extend our very best wishes to our friends and their families for their great achievement of piety, fellowship, peace and unity. Selamat Hari Raya. Minal aidzin wal faidzin, mohon maaf lahir dan batin.” Inside cover features the Date Palm Tree, originally from the Middle East and locally known as the “Palem Kurma”. You will notice these date palms in our outdoor pool. The fruit is popularly served as special sweets during the Hari Raya.

For residents who may be taking the holidays during this time, please inform the TRO in your respective tower and let them know if there will be someone from your household who will be staying in the unit. Otherwise, please ensure that your unit is left as usual in safe condition, electrical appliances unplugged, water taps tightly closed and the like. Have a wonderful holiday and we all shall look forward to seeing you again safely home! Jakarta was once again affected by another earthquake last September 12. Yet another reminder to everyone to be constantly aware, to inform and advise household members of the emergency procedures covered under the House Rules and Regulations. Additional Emergency Procedures were also recently distributed to all residents to be posted at the inside service door of the respective units.

Although it may be hard to do sometimes during an emergency situation, we ask everyone to please do not panic and especially, do not use the elevators. Stay in your unit and you will be receiving further advise from Building Management. These types of event in our lives bring to mind that we have indeed many blessings to be thankful for and that we are one of the more fortunate ones in the world who can continue to have a very comfortable and pleasant living environment in this wonderful country. Welcome to our new residents! We hope that you too will be happy here at The Pakubuwono Residence and we wish you and your families a smooth move in your new home here. Check out our What's On and the many facilities we have here for you to enjoy.
Congratulation to our Employee of the Month, Ms.Asri Widiastuti our administrative assistant. Thank you for a job well done. Keep it up!

PHOENIX DACTYLIFERA

Date-palm (Phoenix Dactylifera) is one of the oldest fruit trees in the world and is mentioned in the Bible and the Qur'an. Dates as a fresh fruit rank No. 5 in the list of tropical/sub-tropical fruits after citrus, mangoes, banana, and pineapples. This useful palm is widespread throughout the middle east and the drier tropics, and its fruit, the well-known date, has been harvested for centuries. Dates can be dried, kept without deterioration for a long period of time. Eating dates remains the greatest pleasure, whether it's North African date bread or Dateland, Arizona date milk shakes, made with vanilla ice cream, milk and date crystals. Arabs eat dates stuffed in a fish called shad, Moroccans make date cakes, but the finest treat for all date eaters may well be the simplest-- fresh dates, right off the bunch.

HEALTH TIPS FOR RAMADAN

Consume Slow Digesting Foods
In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fibre containing-foods rather than fast-digesting foods. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours. Slow - digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, whole meal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates). Fast burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc.
(called refined carbohydrates).
Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, spinach, and other herbs like mint, the leaves of beetroot (iron-rich),fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc. The foods eaten should be well balanced, containing foods from each food group, i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat/chicken/fish, bread/cereals and dairy products.

AVOID
* Fried and fatty foods and Foods containing too much sugar.

EAT
Eat complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the food lasts longer making you less hungry. Haleem is an excellent source of protein and is a slow-burning food. .

TO AVOID GAS LEAKAGE

Before using the cylinder check for leakage from the cylinder valve and other joints by applying soap solution.
Always keep the cylinder in vertical position with the valve up.
Cylinders must be installed at ground level on a level surface.
Regulators to be used on the cylinders must be of the same diameter as the cylinder valve.
Cylinders not in use should always be capped.
The regulators should always be kept in OFF position when the cylinder is not in use.
Cooking should be done on a raised platform, where the stove is placed above the cylinder level.
