Indonesia celebrates Kartini Day on April 21st, the birthday of Raden Ajeng Kartini (1879-1904), the former leader of the country's women's right emancipation in education. Her letters to her friends in Holland on the betterment of women's education were compiled into the famous “Letters of a Javanese Princess”. We therefore take this opportunity to congratulate the Women of Indonesia as they continue to make a significant mark and contribution in the fields of business, economics, politics, education, law, social sciences and much more.
Selamat Hari Kartini!

We would like to remind once again our residents to please ask your drivers to stay in the Driver's Lounge while waiting for your call. Please ask them to give due respect to our other residents and not to use the parking spaces belonging to other residents to lounge around, eat or drink.

The Pakubuwono Residence has provided a lounge specifically for this purpose in order to maintain cleanliness and harmony. Your support and cooperation will be very much appreciated.

Enjoy life at The Pakubuwono Residence!
Sincerely yours,

Detlef Skrobanek
General Manager

ITS LATIN NAME : IPOMOEA
ITS ENGLISH NAME : MORNING GLORY
ITS INDONESIAN NAME : BUNGA UNGU RAMBAT

“April showers bring May flowers”, as the saying goes. Inside features the beautiful deep blue, “Ipomoea Indica or Morning Glory” which you'll find all along the jogging track climbing the outside walls of The Pakubuwono Residence. It is an exquisite and welcoming sight as we return from our daily chores in the city to the oasis which The Pakubuwono Residence has created for you.

This large genus, which includes some 400 species, is best known for its climbers, many of which go under the popular name of Morning Glory. Mostly native to tropical America, they have been introduced throughout the tropical world and in several places have become wild. One of the most popular, often grown over fences as a screen, is Ipomoea indica, which has deep blue or mauve flowers. Others include the pale mauve Ipomoea pulchella and the wine-red Ipomoea horsfalliae. The typical Morning Glory blooms when the sun first strikes it.

AIKIDO

The Japanese martial art of Aikido is a comprehensive system of throwing, joint-locking, striking and pinning techniques, coupled with training in traditional Japanese weapons such as the sword, staff and knife. Founded by Morihei Ueshiba early in the twentieth century following his own extensive study of various armed and unarmed martial systems, Aikido represents a potent distillation of centuries of Japanese martial knowledge. It is one of the most widely practiced budo, or martial way, in the world.

However, Ueshiba (commonly called O-Sensei, or "venerable teacher") was determined that his Aikido be practiced as more than simply a method of fighting. For O-Sensei, Aikido was a path of self-development. He believed that it could be a means for anyone, of any nation, to follow the same path. Aikido is shugyo: an intense physical and spiritual training to perfect human character and develop true wisdom.

If you are interested, Aikido classes are now available in your gymnasium twice a week. Children class every Tuesday at 4 pm, and adult class every Thursday at 7 pm. Come and sign up now!
