Dirgahayu RI ~ Long Live Indonesia!

For the month of August, we once again see the Red and White flags and buntings draped around high rise office buildings, government offices and malls around town. The city turns lively at night with many lighting designs taking on the independence red and white hues along the main thoroughfares of Jl Thamrin and Jl Sudirman as preparations begin well ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. Warmest greetings and congratulations to our Indonesian friends and residents as you commemorate the country's 62nd Independence Day on August 17th.

Inside we'd like to continue to share with you household maintenance tips to prolong the beauty and quality of your home at The Pakubuwono Residence. For this month's issue, you'll find tips on maintaining your wood-parquet floors and how to ensure that your floors retain its shine and smoothness.

PASSION FLOWER

There are some 400 species in this genus, nearly all native to tropical America. They climb quickly by means of tendrils along the stems and have very striking flowers that are complex in shape, sometimes scented, and often beautifully colour.

The popular name derives from the supposed resemblance of the flower to the crown of thorns worn by Christ. Several varieties are commonly grown in greenhouses, trained on a trellis or wire-netting
